A Health Picture of HUD-Assisted Adults 2006-2012

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) have just released a report that presents a broad statistical summary of demographic characteristics, health diagnoses and conditions, and health care access and utilization for HUD-assisted adults. The report links administrative records from HUD with records from the National Health Interview Survey for 2006-2012. It reveals that adults receiving assistance from HUD are older, with more disabilities, and more prevalent health problems compared to other low income renters and adults in the general population. This is the first study of any kind that links data from two federal agencies to provide a snapshot of the health status of adults receiving HUD assistance. For more information click here
