The opening plenary session will feature experts in the field of health policy. This session will highlight the challenges that health care providers face in the Affordable Care Act roll-out and in preparing to address the needs of newly enrolled patients.

Patient engagement is a crucial aspect to health center management and viability. Patient engagement embodies this year’s theme of driving quality care and addressing the unique needs of low-income and underserved populations. Panelists include health centers, a resident of public housing, and a community organization.

This plenary session will feature several national cooperative agreements in a paneled session. Each organization will briefly discuss special populations served and ways in which health centers can begin to address the needs of diverse communities through partnerships and collaborations.
 
Panelists: Fadesola Adetosoye, Shane Hickey and Paula Tomko
The Innovative Technology plenary session will demonstrate programs, services, and tools health care providers can use to identify the needs of their communities. The session is also designed to help providers engage patients, monitor and conduct surveillance through use of electronic health records, and improve the quality of care they provide.
 
Panelists: Kent Forde, Marcus Murray, Karen Parker, Karen Settles and Eugenia Smith
The community forum is a platform for community members, health centers, health advocates, experts, and residents to discuss issues that pertain to health, housing, equality, and the challenges underserved populations face. This year’s forum will coincide with a live Twitter chat of the session for community members.
