Preparing for the Psychological Impacts of a Disaster

The National Center for Health in Public Housing is pleased to present an emergency preparedness webinar training on the psychological impact of disaster. The overall goal of this training is to offer health centers serving residents of public housing the tools they need to address the psychological reactions of staff, patients, and the community to an emergency. This session is based on “Preparing Hospitals and Clinics for the Psychological Consequences of a Terrorist Incident or other Public Health Emergency”, a training developed by LA County EMS in collaboration with the Rand Corporation.
Objectives:
- Identify the triggers of psychological distress during a disaster
- Describe what psychological effects to expect during an emergency
- Devise strategies for preparing my facility to better respond to the psychological effects of a disaster
