Screening for the Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) among People Living with HIV
Wednesday February 19, 2025
To support persons with HIV, health centers and allied organizations provided screening for and services to address the Social Determinants of Health (SDOH).
When combined with effective medical therapy, SDOH interventions had been shown to improve patient well-being and lead to positive health outcomes. These interventions were also among the most efficient and effective methods of supporting individuals with HIV.
In this webinar, Dr. Kevin Michael Lombardi, MD, MPH, Fide Pineda Sandoval, CHES, and the NCHPH Department of Research took a deep dive into the CDC’s latest data on social needs in patients with HIV. This session explored the science behind social determinants of health screening in this population and provided recommendations for implementing, maintaining, and designing maximally effective screening practices and procedures.
The webinar also included a detailed review of a clinical case study designed to simulate the challenges health center staff faced in both clinical and social service contexts. Participants engaged in a respectful and collaborative session focused on practical solutions and positive outcomes.
