The Role of Health Centers in Reducing the Burden of Radon-Induced Lung Cancer Webinar Series

Session 2: Slides
The National Nurse-Led Care Consortium (NNCC) and the National Center for Health in Public Housing (NCHPH) are partnering with HUD’s Office on Healthy Housing and Lead Hazard Control to present a two-part webinar series on radon exposure and its impact on public housing residents.
Radon – a colorless radioactive gas – poses significant health risks, particularly as a leading cause of lung cancer. Residents of public housing face unique environmental challenges due to structural vulnerabilities in older buildings, compounding existing health disparities and barriers to care.
In session one, January 21, 2025, Brenda M. Reyes, MD, MPH, Director of the Policy and Standards Division for the Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes, will explore the health risks of radon exposure and how health centers can implement impactful prevention and mitigation strategies. Katherine Pruitt, National Senior Director of the American Lung Association, will provide an overview of the risk of radon exposure and useful tools.
