Behavioral Health

There is increased recognition around the importance of mental health and addressing behavioral health outcomes for low-income populations. According to a HUD/CDC publication “Health Picture of HUD-Assisted Adults”, 11.6% of people receiving assistance from HUD report to have experience serious psychological distress during the 30 days before being interviewed.

NCHPH has implemented training and technical assistance activities that enable health centers to improve screening and treatment of residents of public housing navigating mental and behavioral health issues and substance abuse. NCHPH aims to improve the ability of health centers to screen for mental health and substance abuse issues.
